Advanced Clinical Imaging Technology Group

The "Advanced Clinical Imaging Technology" is a joint development group of the Centre d'Imagerie Biomedicale (CIBM) and the Siemens Schweiz AG, performing research oriented developments in clinical high field magnetic resonance imaging in humans. Development activities focus on MRI and MRS applications at the Siemens 3T systems (Trio a Tim System) in Geneva and Lausanne and a Siemens 7T human system in Lausanne.

Goal of the development group:

The group aims at optimizing and developing new techniques in high field magnetic resonance imaging. The activities of the group concentrate on advanced neuroimaging, the support of advanced clinical applications and the integration of new applications into clinical practice. Developments are not limited to sequence and software implementations but also extended to the field of biomedical engineering (RF-coils, innovative hardware) and the integration of other modalities (PET, Ultrasound).

What is important to us?

  • Development of new methods in MRI and MRS at high magnetic fields (3T, 7T) with one focus on advanced neuroimaging
    • Methodology and technology (structural, functional MRI and MRS)
    • Biomedical engineering (RF-coil, hardware)

  • Proximity to the customer
    • Benefit from the innovative clinical research environment
    • Early incorporation of clinical expertise in the developments

  • Integration of developed applications
    • into clinical practice at the CIBM
    • in pre-product status (WIP)

Team structure and expertise:

The "Advanced Clinical Imaging Technology" group consists of an inter-disciplinary structure with experts in the field of biomedical and electrical engineering, MR-physics and computer science. The group has been launched in end 2006 and we are currently in the final phase of staffing the team.
