14.1 magnet - EPFL - Lausanne
This 14.1T Ultra High Filed (UHF) MRI Magnet from Varian, has a bore of 260mm. For a short period, this magnet held the title of "The Highest Field in vivo ImagingMagnet".
At 26 cm room temperature bore, this magnet contains significant amounts of NbSn3 superconductor and represents a significant step forward in magnet design.
At 14.1 Tesla MR imaging and spectroscopy are expected to benefit from increased specificity, sensitivity, improved contrast from contrast agents and combination with positron emission methods. Research development cooperation with Magnex Scientific, Oxford.
